South Yorkshire Unity Cup 2026 Brings Communities Together Through Sport

The South Yorkshire Unity Cup 2026 was successfully delivered through a partnership between DiverseCity Development Trust, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA), and Yorkshire Cricket Foundation.

The event brought together over 40 young people from diverse communities across South Yorkshire, creating a positive and inclusive space for sport, teamwork, leadership, and community connection.

Designed as a youth-led initiative, the Unity Cup provided an opportunity for young people to engage in a safe and supportive environment, while also encouraging confidence, participation, and shared experiences across different communities.

As part of the event, all participants were provided with event T-shirts and sports footwear, helping to ensure that every young person could take part with confidence and without barriers.

The day reflected the strength and diversity of South Yorkshire, with young people, families, partners, and community leaders coming together in a spirit of inclusion, pride, and shared belonging.

The Unity Cup also highlighted the value of partnership working across the VCSE sector, public partners, and sport, demonstrating how collaborative approaches can create meaningful opportunities for young people and communities.

More than a tournament, the event served as a positive reflection of community connection and cohesion in action across South Yorkshire.
